The third Automated Transfer Vehicle, ATV-3, dubbed Edoardo Amaldi, was lofted into space and towards the International Space Station (ISS) by an Ariane 5 ES launcher on Friday 23 March at 05:34 Bremen time (01:34 Kourou time, 04:34 GMT). This Ariane launcher carried into orbit the name “Free Hanseatic City of Bremen” together with the key from the city’s coat of arms.
